Indian newspapers have reported that the Cabinet decision taken around November 24, 2004, to grant extension to Banerje committee for three more months attached condition that Banerjee produce interim report by January 15, 2005. This is what he did.<br /><br />Please note Indian Express site says Election Commission announced dates for Bihar elections only on December 17, 2005... There is no mystery about timing. Indian newspapers have reported that the Cabinet decision taken around November 24, 2004, to grant extension to Banerje committee for three more months attached condition that Banerjee produce interim report by January 15, 2005.
