Wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year
The year 2004 was mixed for not only me but also for Indians as a
whole as lot many great things happened along with the biggest tragedy
of our lifetime - the tsunami disaster.
Here is hoping that 2005 is not like 2004 and that all of us enjoy
this year with all the happiness that we can get.
I saw Swades yesterday - an amazing movie not because of the story’s strength but because of story’s simplicity and realism. The movie is very realistic and there is no usual bonhomie that is shown in almost every bollywood film.According to me this is Ashutosh Gowariker’s best movie - better than that of Lagaan. This is more realistic and likeable.
My favorite scene is when SRK says (translated into English)
” I dont believe our nation is great(mahan), but yes I believe that we have the capacity and talent to be great.”
The villagers are horrified and they say that we have culture and tradition and because of that we are great. SRK replies
“Pardon me but since you have raised the topic I am saying this , whenever we start to lag behind in competition we take umbrage in our so called great culture and tradition. America is a nation that has developed on their skills and talents and they have evolved their own culture and to say that our culture is better than theirs is not right. And what culture are you talking about? A culture which discriminates its own people based on the work that they do? A culture which does not allow a handloom maker to become a farmer? A culture where people are treated unjustly? What culture are you talking about? All of us say that this nation is going nowhere and this is true for all of us - you,me and everybody else. But, what do we do about it? - nothing. We blame the govt for every problem when we ourselves dont contribute towards improving the system. We dont want to help ourselves that is the biggest problem.”
I was taken aback. I was like hey I do that. I am here cribbing on the net doing nothing and then I realised that this is it - it’s time I did something and hence I am going to work a lot for ‘We The Indians‘.
We The Indians is a proposed NGO. The idea is of my friend Monica Datta and I liked the idea and I agreed to help her out.
But seeing Swades has changed my outlook. Using We The Indians as a tool I am going to try and educate people to leave aside their differences for the common good. Once all of us Indians learn to do that we would definitely be the great nation that we all dream of.
As you all know.. Tsunami hit most of the coastlines of Asia this Sunday. The devastation it has caused is enormous. I dont need to tell you more about it.. you all might have seen the news… my focus is not on that it is about the politics of tsunami that is being played in Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu is the worst affected state in India due to tsunami.
In this time of great despair, all political parties should have joined their hands leaving behind their political enmity and should have rallied behing all those affected due to this national natural calamity. But, what do I find, Sun TV, a TV network owned by a supporter(Kalanidhi Maran - Murasoli Maran’s Son and Dayanidhi Maran- IT & Telecom Minister’s brother) of the opposition DMK is criticising and trying to gain political mileage out of this disaster. The same is true for the ruling AIADMK, supporter of which is Jaya TV (dont know who owns it) seeing that the DMK was looking for loopholes in the disaster management scheme showed a clipping wherein the people where cursing the DMK for trying to take political mileage out of this.
I am blaming both of them. THEY HAVE NO FUCKING RIGHT TO DERIVE ANY POLITICAL MILEAGE OUT OF A DISASTER. Look at how low our politicians have fallen to. I always beleived that TN politics was the most lowest they have even gone lower. If you see the news daily on Sun TV and Jaya TV you would find Sun TV criticising the govt for every small thing and Jaya TV praising the govt. I mean look at these fucking bastards, as a news provider they should provide CORRECT AND ACCURATE information not some politically scrutinised report.
I hate these fucking bastards.

I know its been a long time since I updated my blog.. so here I go.. so much has happened in all these days … will try comment on many of the things dat happ.
And for people who asked me about my novel .. well I am working on it . Chapter 2 will be out soon.
The biggest personal disappointment was CAT which I gave on November 21st. The whole pattern was changed … well I dont want to comment on it further..
The Shankaracharya incident has occupied so much of news reel and news print that I know the comments I am making now may sound a bit out of date… but I m not going to judge nethin till he is either convicted or set free… we dont know many of the things that we should know if we have to make a judgement, so I dont think people should jump the gun and decide whether he is innocent or not. The BJP, DMK and AIADMK should rather step out and take a back seat… and let the judge decide …
The most hilarious political incidents that have happened since my last post was of Uma Bharati’s fiery departure and Smriti Irani popularly known as Tulsi Virani recent comments about Narendra Modi…. Uma Bharati’s incident was so funny I mean it looked like she was acting like a 5 year old kid.. I remember when i was young and while playin cricket,when i used to get out .. I would take my bat and head for home and then my friends used 2 ask me 2 play… seemed like that … well for those people who are a bit inquisitive no I dont do that nemore…

Smriti Irani’s comments were actually good what she said made lot of sense… when will the BJP realise that he is more of a liability than an asset … well I think Smriti made a tactical error… she should have left the BJP and said I am standing for what I believe in .. I guess that would have been far better then the BJP wud hav come rushing 2 her coz she took a stand people would stand by her thus making her politically strong. Well that’s for her to decide.
Well I have been hooked onto this new TV channel.. Star One it is so cool.. all gr8 programs.. after a really long time there is some good Indian channel worth watching. My favourite shows being reMIX, Hotel Kingston, Yeh Yahi to hai woh, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Family Business and The Great Indian Comedy Show. I would recommend it.
Plus I was lucky enough to lay my hands on all the episodes of the comedy show That 70s Show that have aired till now all 7 seasons… what an amazing show .. even joey a rip off from Friends is amazing. Got all the 12 episodes… Then two other personal favorites of mine .. Grounded for Life and Still Standing .. all these shows have aired on Star World except for Joey.
Well this comment has really gone too long now so cutting it short .. will be updating my blog more regularly now…
